    Hi all,
Currently have sky box installed in the house and use Vodafone for Internet. Internet speed is shockingly slow so thinking or either adding sky broadband or making a switch over to upc for the faster broadband. Anyone got any advice? Currently living in Dublin 9 area

We have the full package with upc and that consists of 120meg (was unable to get 240 because of location), basic horizon TV and home phone (unlimited calls to landlines and mobiles). Had a few problems during the first week due to the WiFi on the horizon box but after a call to upc, they sent out a separate modem and we've had no issues since.

That cost us €37.50 for the first six months and will be doubled from then on.

Yup, navigating that horizon box menu is incredibly slow and clunky, the sky guide is the benchmark and UPC have done next to nothing to improve theirs over the last decade. They've made it worse in fact, the old little NTL box was quality.

If you can get Sky broadband I'd bundle it with the TV, less hassle and can negotiate a bit on the price. I've had both UPC and Sky broadband in our place. Had the 120 UPC and now have 100 Sky. Honestly don't notice a difference. You do need to make sure your line is equipped for the Sky fibre though. Think you can do it online if you know the phone number of the landline that runs into your house.

Sky Broadband is just an eircom re-seller, just like VF, so if the line is bad for one it'll likely be the same for the other.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll give sky a ring later and try sort out a good deal

Since this is primarily an internet question, I'll move it somewhere more appropriate.

    (Moved from TV)
