Working & recieving susi grant?

    Hi guys,

I work full time now but my boss has kindly offered me part time weekend work for the duration I am in college. The susi grant has only asked me about last years income and if I'm recieving other grants this year. I'm just wondering if working part time while I'm in college will effect my grant payment? Or is it all just based on last year?

    Thank you :)

It is normally based on the previous years income but you can apply for a change in circumstances if it will make a difference to the amount of funding you receive once eligible.

Thank you :) So should I inform them that I will be working 8 hours on weekends while in college? Does this mean I will recieve less money from them? Sorry if these are stupid questions I've never recieved a grant before and can't find any info about working while in college

It depends on the type of grant you are receiving.
My wife works two days a week and the SUSI grant pays for her fees and a small amount every month. Less than €100 a month I think but it all helps.

You should get a letter from your employer regarding your new hours and weekly rate of pay.
Submit this to SUSI with a request for a review due to a change in your circumstances and if there is a significant difference it should improve your grant if your were already eligible.
