Farm Yard Plans for grants

    Hi all,

I see most of the grants with Tams 2 require a farm yard plan 1:5000 scale I think?
Must say I would not be overly familiar as to how you go about doing up such a plan? Any straightforward advice please?

We got one done a number of years back when applying for a grant for a replacement silage slab. We may be able to reuse this. It was originally done by an adviser, not something I would take on myself to be honest, there is a fair bit of detail in it and unless you are handy in CAD I'd leave it to an expert.

Ruler pencil and a measuring tape, that's what I did for the safety grant, admittily the yard isn't elaborate

Done the same as that here and there are several sheds old and new, big and small and a couple of silage pits. Nothing in the place is running square. Drew it out on an A3 size of paper. Mark everything good and clear and it'll be grand.

Just got a scale ruler out and drew boxes to scale here, and they accepted it, there only looking for an outline shape of the yard to highlight where the work is to be carried out.

I would be handy enough on the drawing tho and did leave it all laid out neat and tidy for them so would be hard to argue with it

Just remeber to stick on arrows showing direction of falls in the yard for drains effluent

The farm yard plan would probably have to be at 1:500 or (1:200) to be legible.

If the existing buildings have been there a while, you could go to osi website and order a A4 Land Reg Compliant Map (cheaper than a Planning Pack map) which will be e-mailed to you as a pdf.

If you can print the pdf file to scale - print at 1:500 or 1:200 (may need A2/A3 printer to show all farmyard) and trace over OSI map.

If you can't print the pdf file to scale - print to "actual size" (which would be 1:2500), trace over OSI map and bring to print shop and ask them to copy at 500% to bring to a 1:500 scale.

Either way get a couple of copies made and fill the rest in by hand.

Or you can download draftsight , free 2D cad program and draw it yourself.

Will you not need planning permission anyway so it should be done on site layout? Or maybe it's for items that don't need PP?
