Full service? - South Dublin '06 Mazda6

I'm wondering if anyone knows of places around south dublin (live in crumlin) that I can get a full service on a 2006 Mazda 6. I just bought it in a private sale - it's the 1.8 petrol version (ford engine).

Got quoted 300 from a dealer which I thought was a bit steep, so curious if anyone knows of an indy mechanic, etc. that will do a proper job for a reasonable price.

I suppose around now it's time for the 75K service. Your owner's manual should state what needs to be done.

Don't just buy a "full service" without knowing if it covers what you need done. You might just need oil and filters, read the manual.

Without knowing what exactly is being done for €300 it's hard to know if it was good value or not. Also "full" service is a very generic term, really depends on the particular make/model and what was previously done at the last service.

It was last serviced in December by the previous owner - it's currently at 87k miles. The oil is looking pretty dark.

Is a full service not just an oil, oil filter, spark plug, air filter replacement, with other fluids topped up/replaced if necessary?

It could be, but doesn't have to be. Hence it's best to get an itemised list and compare it to the manual.
For instance - when was coolant and brake fluid last replaced?

But yes, an indy could do all of these things for you at a slightly better price. Just agree on what needs doing first and the price.

We use these guys all the time in work, and they also look after my car. Not far from the KCR so should be handy enough from Crumlin.

Great, thanks for the info - I remember seeing a list of things that need to be done in the manual at various service intervals (though I don't think it's overly detailed).

I looked at the logbook, and it's stamped etc for every service, but it doesn't say what has been done in detail - should I change brake fluid/coolant to be safe in this case?

You can check the condition of the coolant and brake fluid by looking down into their respective reservoirs. If fluid is tainted it should be changed.
As a general tip, if you can't remember when a fluid was changed it's probably time to change it.
