Non Standard Internal Doors

We are looking at getting new internal doors and frames in the house. After measuring them none of the frames/doors seem to conform to this“standard sizing” most websites quote. We like the shaker style doors with the opaque glass then similar style but with no glass. We would realistically need to get new frames too.

After reading around, the suggestion is to cut doors to size but we are looking to get new frames too, plus Im not sure you can get a clean cut on some of the doors we are looking at.

We cant be the only people in Dublin who don’t meet this standard size quoted in several places so I’m wondering if anyone knows who supply and fit doors, like shaker style or any other styles that are not just solid wood that are also not in this standard size of packages offered. Also, this is just a way to increase the prices saying you will need non standard doors or are all new builds now following one of the standard sizes?

    Cheers

For the last 60 years approximately, doors have come in standard sizes , the most popular being 30" wide / 78" high and 32" wide/ 80" high despite the introduction of metric measurement the imperial door sizes are still in use, ironically in Britain and NI imperial sized doors were phased out years ago.
If you are changing the door frames this might give you some scope to use standard doors, with new architrave being used also.
With the modern shaker style door you don't have much leeway for cutting the width as there is usually only 6mm of solid wood on each edge,
    How old is your house.

What sizes are you looking for?

Cheers for the replies. Off hand I only know the bathroom door which is 72.5 cm, that is the smallest now.
The others are probably half correct based on the imperial measurement, around 78 / 82 ish cm. They were all slightly diff sizes though. House is about 35 years old.

Hi, for your 72,5 you can fit 70, 78/82 can fit 80 etc. I sent you PM with catalouges of about 100 doors with adjustable frames in wide range of colours and sizes.

Unfortunately it's common enough to find incorrectly made and fitted door frames in houses , the reason for this in a lot of cases is that the door frames are made and fitted by the first fix carpenter's who won't be doing the second fix , with the use of planted on rebate slips this has gotten worse as any gob****__ with a handsaw and a hilti gun can have a go at it , rant over.
