Hi, Hope this hasn't been asked before, but has anyone had any success mending torn bib shorts. Took a little tumble and managed to tear a little hole about the size of a euro coin in the leg. I just bought them and they were fairly expensive Castelli. All sorts of advice on google from sewing the two edges, sewing/glueing with an old lycra patch or Iron on repairs. Thanks

get a very fine sewing needle and you can pull the edges together and sew it up. works a treat for me anyway. tore them on rip on the saddle. repair has now lasted a year with heavy wear

Yep can indeed be repaired but you need to be careful. I never sew directly onto Lycra, I always put some interfacing/fusing on first so the fabric doesn't rip in the thread holes if you know what I mean. Also helps the repair not pull on surrounding fabric causing it to tear more. Use a zigzag or elastic stitch depending on the tear you're fixing, some need to be almost kind of darned across to stay together, depends on how big the hole is and how messy the edges are.

I keep an old pair of shorts just for repairs.
If I rip my shorts, I* use the old ones to make patches.

*my use of "I" can be interpreted fairly liberally, in this instance.
