Here's a quick question that some of you might be able to answer for me - is it hard/easy/impossible/normal to have a hive right by the sea?

We are located right by the sea and so get pretty strong winds at times as well as a generally cooler temperature than further inland. Parts of the site are very exposed, but there are sheltered areas behind walls in places around the garden.

This is very, very, very early days in the thinking process at the moment so I'm just checking to see whether the location would be an issue or not.

If you can find a spot where the hive is sheltered from the worst of the weather, it should be OK. You also need something for them to forage, and if you're really on the sea shore, that can sometimes be difficult. However, it's more usual to have plenty of flowers and trees and crops for them to forage on, but it's just something to be aware of.
