    Hi

I'm wondering if anyone here has gone on a holiday to Croatia split between the Island of Mljet and then the village of Cavtat which is close to Dubrovnik?

We are booking our first package holiday ever, and it looks ideal.
Four days on Mljet with plenty to explore on the Island, then three in Cavtat within easy access of Dubrovnik.

    Anyone done this trip?

We are planning on going in September

I was looking at this package on Croatia.ie and Concorde Travel a while ago and one thing that put me off was that the only hotel on the island, Hotel Odisej doesn't get great reviews (http://www.tripadvisor.ie/Hotel_Review-g303816-d307785-Reviews-Hotel_Odisej_Mljet-Mljet_National_Park_Dubrovnik_Neretva_County_Dalmatia.html)
I'm sure the island itself is nice but the hotel is worth bearing in mind.

I haven't made it to Mljet but did spend a really great few days in Cavtat. It's a picture postcard little town with really good restaurants and the opportunity to watch the world go by at the harbour. The monastery on the outskirts of the town hosts fantastic open air concerts too. Easy access to the bustle and beauty of Dubrovnik is a massive selling point and offers you the best of both worlds.

We were cruising out of Dubrovnik about 10 years ago, and stopped in Mljet. It was absolutely beautiful, we hired bikes and cycled across through the national park bit to fabulous bays. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Cavtat is a tiny gorgeous village (or it was when I was last there anyway), slightly dominated by the ENORMOUS Hotel Croatia which is wrapped around the entire headland. For the size of it, though, it's not as monolithic as it could be.

It's only about 8 miles from Dubrovnik old town, and I'm fairly sure there's a water taxi, so it's an ideal location for staying in.

    Do it!

Hmm just read the reviews of the hotel, no wifi would be a serious killer :)

As it happens, the dates don't suit us, so we will put this off, but it's on the itinerary for next year :0
