Just spotted the eircom lad pulling the fibre in my estate and I could have 1gb by the end of the year:)

Anyway I started asking the question what could I do with 1gb, I would like to get rid of my sky HD with mulitroom would I have to get e-vision or is there a better options to use the bandwidth.

I have a Xbox one so I use Netflix with this and use Xbox video to rent movies and I play COD online a good bit.

but what you you do or are doing with these sort of speeds?

6.1kWp south facing, South of Cork City

For the vast majority of people, nothing more than you can do with 20-30Mbit.

Except hosting websites will be against the TOS on residential connections you can bet.

As above, not much, yet. When 4k becomes the de facto standard then it'll start to hold its own.

If you work from home or need to transfer large files (especially uploading files) then the increased speeds will be useful, even GPON with "only" 100Mb upload will make a huge difference to graphic designers, photographers etc.

You could 1080p stream, 4k stream, netflix, download torrents, game at ridiculously low pings, backup your pc, all at the same time. You won't kill that connection.

    or... you could
