Just doing a bit of research here.

Have you bought or would you buy an instrument online without trying it out?
i'm talking about stuff over the €500 mark.

Yes. And no. Depends. On lots of variables.

Fist of all, sorry for my crappy English I'm not a native English speaker.

I have bought amps, basses, stomp-boxes, ... online with no problems but I knew what I was buying.
Even tho, depends of the instrument, the same brand, the same model can be different from one place to another one (similar but different).

Depends on where you're buying from and what it is. Some sites for example Thomann, will give you a 30-day return option if you don't like it. I've bought guitars over the €700 mark online, as I'm a lefty, and sometimes you want more than a plain black strat or bog-standard les paul (or cheap knock-off of either), but that's all places seem to stock over here for us southpaws. I've bought a couple of amps as well, no hassle.

It's best to be able to try before you buy, as you might have the perfect piece of kit in mind, but it mightn't feel right when you actually get your hands on it. But if it's a reputable online store I'd have no problems buying there, once I wasn't able to get the same thing locally.

I bought an upright piano off the internet for 1400 euro and it works perfectly - I got it last December and still works great!

Yeah I bought my guitar online from dolphin music. I had played the same model before many times and felt pretty safe doing it.
