Severe pancreatitis

Apologies if this is against the rules but I'm looking for anyone who has had experience with severe chronic pancreatitis.

My father who is 74 and has been in hospital for two months now, firstly in Kerry General Hospital before being transferred to Tallaght Hospital. We were told there was an abcess in his pancreas which needed to be drained and his pancreas was very inflamed. Surgery was ruled out because it would be too much for him and he was transferred to Tallaght about a month ago.
He hasn't eaten in all that time instead has a TPN line which damaged his arms, he now is being fed through a tube in his nose. About four days ago they removed the catheter and nasal tube and tried him with some milk one day and a spoon of ice cream the next. He then started vomiting and became incontinent so they are fasting him again. They have said he has another infection and he (when talking coherently) is complaining of the pain. We were told that pancreatitis is very slow to recover from which we have accepted (he hasn't and has become very depressed), I'm just wondering if anyone has dealt with this before or a family member or someone they know. We are beyond worried. Again apologies if this thread is against forum rules.
