How does someone living and working in London with no irish family inherit a house worth 160k and become entitled to the Class A threshold with no CAT payable?

If they are the son or daughter of the deceased.

The OP said "a family member" left them property...

The nationality of the disponer and recipient are unimportant.
Because the property is in Ireland, it falls within the remit of Capital Acquisitions Tax here.

Could be because the taxation legislation is blind to the nationalities of those involved or where they are living and working.

The thread says that a solicitor had confirmed no tax is payable.

I am going to believe that and leave it there and not speculate.
