Reverse around a corner

My ADI taught me this on the last lesson. I would have thought it was one fluid movement but he taught me to stop twice and do the child check - does this sound odd?

Stop once on the bend, check for traffic, move off.

It's perfectly acceptable to do as you were taught. I often use this method the first few times I get pupils to reverse around a corner. It breaks it up, ensures you look in the right places at the right times and helps you assess and re-assess your position. Once you become better at it you can go in one fluid motion while it's safe to do so.

Thanks Mascot. I actually like the mthod and it makes sense to me too - was just wondering if this is an in between step (practice like this until you're ready to do it in one go)

If at any stage during this reverse i cross the other lane-does it equal grade 3?

    A follow up question

Should you indicate left when reversing around the corner?

    Thanks

No. Never use indicators while the car is in reverse - the reversing lights are the signal.

I should say if you end up on the wrong side of the road during any maneuver it'll be game over.
