Greenore Whiskey

    Hi there!

Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to find a couple of bottles of Greenore whiskey with the old Greenore label on? They've changed the name to Kilbeggan 8 year old but I really wanted the Greenore label as a present.

I'm getting married in a few weeks and wanted to try to get them as presents for the groomsmen but anywhere I've tried seems to be all sold out :(

    Any help greatly appreciated :)

    Try contacting the distillery directly.

Best of luck with the wedding! :)

How have they "changed the name" to Kilbeggan when Greenore is a single grain and Kilbeggan a blended malt? Talk about confusion / potential brand damage there, Kilbeggan is fairly rough and not something people would often consider working up the prices/ages on.

Master of Malt have it but Sterling is currently making it painful to buy anything from them.

Kilbeggan became the flagship brand after the Beam takeover with an eye on an assault on the US market. They made a point of moving away from the Cooley name, rebranding Greenore as a Kilbeggan Single Grain and the 4x5cl Cooley collection was renamed the Irish Whiskey collection from the KDC.

Strange move, Greenore had established itself as a brand and carved out its own niche as a single grain. Many think it's been discontinued and even more confusingly Kilbeggan brought out a 21yo whiskey which is in the exact same bottle as the single grain!

Yep this is exactly what happened. Misguided attempt at brand consolidation I'd imagine. Cooley's strength was it's variety of branding imo. Now they have to start from scratch and the greenore liquid will probably suffer from association with the kilbeggan liquid which is quite rough. Kilbeggan 18 year old was stunning though.

Congratulations. Try drinkstore http://www.drinkstore.ie/Greenore-Single-Grain-8-Year-Old-700ML-5099357008000 Might want to ring to confirm they have the Greenore bottling in stock.

Idk if many off-licences would have several bottles still in stock but you should try Devaneys in Dundrum, Redmonds in Ranelagh, and the offie beside Whelans on Wexford St sometimes has top shelf whiskey.

Shocked at the rebranding but it's obviously a call that was made at corporate HQ with global marketing outweighing the established branding. Does seem very strange though.

The closest I can see to logic here is that Kilbeggan has a visitor centre to send tourists to (and it does get a fair few going on the coach park the day I went there) whereas Cooley is a fairly hideous structure that doesn't have quite the same appeal... but throwing out an established brand and trying to build up the one that probably has the worst reputation is a bit mental.

    Some here too.

Postage to Ireland is expensive, but one bottle or six bottles is the same price to post.
