Self employed tax help!

    Hi

Firstly, I am a student. Secondly, I am seriously considering becoming self employed at the weekends manufacturing and selling solid fuels to shops. For what it's worth I have calculated I would be taking in less than €10k/year if I start.

Can someone explain in its simplest form how the whole tax thing would work? I'm guessing no matter how much I make I would have to register anyways.
The revenue's website is wrecking my brain trying to figure it out!

    All replies appreciated.

Registration Form TR1 - click the link on that page to download it, print it off, fill it in and send back to Revenue. They'll send you out a confirmation of your registration then, and information for setting yourself up on their online service to do your returns.

And you are correct. Even if you're under the threshold you still have to register and do your returns.
