    Hi,
Just in the process of buying a house and have noticed that the window sills upstairs are badly stained, possibly from weather or left in a damp place during storage before being installed.
The staining really detracts from the look of the house.
Is there a way to clean them without actually replacing them?

If the stain is because of the weather and after cleaning with soap and warm water and after they have completely dried, chip of the surface a little , smooth en the surface with sand paper and than you can colour and make it totally new .

But do try and see , the wood is still strong. if it has already got the moisture and is not strong enough than its sensible to change it

Apologies, I wasn't very clear in my post. It's the stone part of the windowsill that's stained, the rest of the windows are perfect.

Although maybe sanding would. Help with the stains. Wouldn't mind if it was even a little faded, but at the moment I think it is really bad
