So our wedding venue has a bar, that has no draft. Bottles/cans & spirits.

So we have to tell them what beers etc we want at the wedding.
What would you suggest. I have an idea in my head, but would like to see what other people would think.

    Thanks

    On Draft

    Jamesons
    Jack Daniels
    Hennessys
    Vodka
    Cork Gin
    Baileys

Is there no draft available at the venue at all? If so can they bring in pints if people want to order them?

    Can't help with beers!

I'm not sure what you mean here?

No there is no draft beers available at the venue.

No there is no draft beers available at the venue.

I just meant that some venues have multiple bars in different areas, and I thought you meant that perhaps only the room you were in had no draft taps at the bar.

Ah, OK I see what you mean. No, it's a country house type venue. Small venue. And only 80 at the wedding. (though, I think they are used to catering for much smaller weddings)

    Stout: Guinness
    Cider: Bulmers
    Lager: Heineken & Budweiser
Bonus Drink: 8 Degrees Barefoot Bohemian & Sunburnt Irish Red Ale

    All taste's catered for.

OP, don't ask us - unless you think we're really representative of your guest list! Ask your guests.

I'd say you'd be safe enough with Guinness and Heineken, but as Mrs OBumble said, its probably not a bad idea to ask your guests. I know my OH would lose his life if there was no Bulmers/cider as he isnt a beer drinker at all and a majority could prefer Bud to Heineken, so you'd be better off to check instead of having grumpy guests :)

what about wine? I'd often stay on wine for the night at a wedding having started on it over dinner. Alot of women will get a glass of wine at a wedding rather than beer (doesn't look ladylike with the guna, the hat and the 'do') or spirits (get locked too early)

Id say get a few bottles just to make sure.. Again id say we are fairly close to your set up where the bar is there but no drink in the bar... The bar man was kinda saying that most of the weddings he has done that no one really orders wine after, but I know for a fact that a lot of my friends and family drink wine and would stay on it for the night, so we just asked him to pick up 2 cases of each, and then we will have some of the wedding dinner wine left too so we can always top it up...

As others have said maybe even do a list of lets say what your friends would drink on a night out and take it from there, try not to let it addle you though people will drink what is there

Regarding wine, check venue corkage costs. May work out cheaper getting cheap deals in Tescos, and opening them up as you go, paying the corkage costs, unless the venue offers cheap wine. Any wine not used, bring it home with ye. Good for the "dinner wine" where most don't care what it is, but you'll find it's drank rapidly.

    Thanks everyone.
We are supplying the wedding wine (so yes there is corkage). There is also a good selection of other wine available at the venue if people choose.
My inclination had been towards cider (bulmers), larger (heineken) and guinness plus .....something

Jager bombs are always a hit at weddings....at least all the ones I've been to this year

Coors light is a popular choice with the ladies!

So it is just for draught is it sillysmiles..

That would be loads even given Guinness, Heineken and bulmers would be plenty..

Can I ask something re the wine, just came up the other night.. with the corkage how much is it working out for the bottle of wine. Lets say the price of the bottle of wine and then the corkage price towards how much it is at the venue...

You can get pint bottles of guinness and smithwicks, for lager maybe you could get bottles of an irish microbrewed one.
Few bottle of red and white wine, maybe the same that was served at dinner.
Selection of spirits and mixers (including diet option of cola and 7up)

At our venue corkage is €10. Their cheapest house wine is €25, so as long as the wine we bought is cheaper than €15 we are saving money.

Thanks Sillysmiles, we were just talking about it the other night. Someone had mentioned they were doing corkage but it made no sense what so ever. I was thinking they were just doing it because they liked the idea of getting their own...

You should keep an eye on Supervalue for the wine deals we found the best around, and super easy to order in bulk. The next was Tesco but they are little dim lets say when it comes to trying to order in bulk..

Oh my god are they what.....they really p!ssed me off! Accepted my bulk order online all went through etc.
Then when my mother went to collect it oh sorry we just have whatever we have on the shelf (5 bottles )

Supervalu are fantastic to deal with for wedding wine/drinks including beer and the rest of it

haha yeah they really should sort it out.. we only got the bucks fizz from them in the end. But I called the two main stores close by one was clueless as to what I wanted to do, the other now in fairness was loverly but they didn't communicate which the customer service desk.

I was told go there to pick it up by 10 as such that day and the girl didn't have a clue what I was talking about no one told her.. No she was a dinger after it but still..

That's another thing OP if you are going to Tesco keep an eye out for the Aldi/Lidl Vouchers they accept them so you could buy as such in batches and get a €10 off each time

Or wine is all bought and stored for us. Next step is transporting to the venue in time of it to be chilled for the day.

Ah sure your all sorted out so

Yeah, I was just about to ask about chilling facilities and ice. It is highly unlikely that they have a cold room for drinks if they do not have draught beers. I was at a wedding on a very hot day where they had neither chilling facilities nor ice. A lot of beer drinkers were a bit disappointed.
