I like black cars, in general. I'd like my next car to be black (whatever the car will be is anyone's guess). From looking at SUVs online (Rav4, Grand Vitara, Pathfinder, etc.) black does seem to sometimes tack a couple of Euro extra on the price (not €3k though!).

Would I be right in saying that when buying a new car, white is the cheapest colour and black is generally the more expensive option? Could it stem from this?

That silver one has had a bad respray on the drivers side.

The black one is crazy money. You'll get a 2014 new model for that money.

The silver ones photos may look like it has had a respray would really need to see the car in person to make such claims.

The back door is clearly a different shade to the car. You don't need to see it in person to notice that. It would have been all the same shade originally.

Nah, even on the side-on picture, even though it doesn't look as bad it's still wrong.

With new cars its usually the same price for metallic/non metallic regardless of which colour it is.

Sometimes black cars are less ecpensive because dirt shows up more easily on them compared to silver or brown etc

One thing to note, I have a black civic like the one in the link, and it scratches so easily.
I know black scratches, but this paint in particular is very delicate.

Black has always been a higher maintenance colour, I wouldn't pay much of a premium for it.

Interestingly we tend to put a premium on black coloured things like marble, state cars etc are black.. In India it's the opposite and white coloured cars are considered prestige

White reflects heat better that's part of the reason they are more popular in very hot climates like India (or Las Vegas for that matter).

I fookin hate black cars (drive one myself), get mucky so much quicker(or at least I notice it more!) and can see even the slightest scratches. Bloody hate it,never again! Of all the coloured cars I've had white is probably my favourite.

It can work the other way around too though- Apple charges a €100 premium for a white laptop over the same model in black. People pay it, dont ask my why but they do

Usually the basic dull whites, greys, ****ty brown colour cars are the cheapest paint, sometimes nothing extra.

If you specify an ice white, vivid red, blue, basically anything with a lot of colour they tend to cost more. Metallic colours are obviously more too.
