Recommendations for windows HTPC

    Ive been using a core 2 duo 1.8ghz laptop for the past year but even with an SSD its very lacking.

    Processor is up at 100% all the time when watching netflix, even with killing off all un-necessary apps & processes.

    Think its time to upgrade to a proper HTPC.

    Whats the best option to get something that will be able to play Hi Def movies with ease & stream without issue ( ignoring network issues of course).

    I want to stay on windows if possible& keep it affordable.

    I got for 99.99 before they raised the prices.

    Have it up and running a few weeks, using it for Netflix & Kodi. Works perfect, plays everything I can throw on it

    Has a free upgrade to Windows 10 included in it....had a look around most of the mini HTPC and this seemed to be the best on market....

    Not sure if it is what you are looking for but might be worth a look.....

    I'm using a HP 260 g1 - only 137€ and if you add an SSD and 4gb more RAM, you've got a great machine for under 200€.

    The other option I would think of is an Intel NUC or Gigabyte Brix - a lot of flexibility based on processor type and what you are willing to spend

    The most affordable might be to try dual booting with a lightweight Linux .... maybe Openelec .... and see how your hardware behaves then.

    Does anyone use a remote for their windows HTPC ?

    I'm looking to cut out some the extra remotes and keyboards at home to streamline my set up and I'm wondering what the best android remote for controlling a windows PC is ?
