Update Tom Tom One Map or Update Sat Nav Unit?

Guys I have a Tom Tom One which has served me well since circa 2006 give or take. Has never seen a map update. Currently I can update the maps for £21 Stg and just wanted to confirm if anybody has done this recently? I just want to make sure the old unit can get the most up to date maps.
