Was looking on argos site and there's a banner add for 10% off phones laptops if you quote tech10 at the till

Just read it again it has to be €499 or more

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,355 ✭✭✭cruhoortwunk

    Argos giftcards available in Tesco.
So you could theoretically use 9 x aldi vouchers to get €450 worth giftcard for €360. Pay for this and have €20 spare argos credit, so €340 for the phone. (left with €20 credit to use though)

    Great phone for the price.

Will Tesco give you gift vouchers for argos in exchange for aldi vouchers? Have you tested this cunning plan before?

LG G3 seems like good value for €350 too:

Did it before for Ticketmaster giftcards anyway. Worked in the one on Parnell St around Chritmas

Have this phone and hate it. Had s4 before it and other than the camera it is miles behind. Tends to shut off randomly, often can't connect to WiFi when other phones can without issue. Would swap it for an s5 any day

Shouldn't be doing that I had no problem with mine bar it was stolen...send it off for repair for the powering off problem...if the wifi problem was everywhere put down that problem as well..if its only in 1 location change your wifi chanell..

Love my z3. no issues with it. It cost 449 with Vodafone last March.

Edited to add: Apologies, mine is the Z3 compact!

Had issues with a different Xperia handset under warranty a couple of years ago & found Sony's repair & returns process both arduous and exasperating.

Really turned me off the brand tbh.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 255 ✭✭Mechanical Clocktail

If I reserve this for pick-up and the price changes in the meantime will I still get the discounted price? Considering a new phone for a while. I was all about the M8 vs the S5 but then looked at this and I actually think this looks like the best of the three.

Clove UK have the G3 cheaper than Argos.. The Z3 is still overpriced imo, I'd go with G3 have them both and the G3 is better imo.

I get fatigued having to compare all these handsets. It puts me off buying altogether.

    LG G3

    Argos: €349.95
    Clove UK: £291.40 incl. postage costs - €419.83 :confused::confused:

If your going down that road you'd have to consider the moto x bamboo, which is cheaper than both of them. When all is said and done though only 1 of them can get you a full day of flat out usage and survive the ice bucket challenge. Z3 FTW!!

    271.00 GBP = 390.391 EUR

My bad forgot the VAT price to be added there :eek:

Few mates at work have Z2's & Z3's/compacts, all v happy.
Personally sick of my iphone at this stage, so restrictive. How is the reliability of Android vs iOS these days?

I reserved it, so no purchase made yet but more than likely I'll pick it up. It looks like best quality all around. I like that it doesn't have a bunch of fanatics like the HTC or Samsung. You get too much bias in opinion when people get too into a certain brand.

Did this at XMas no probs but point blankly refused yesterday when getting 50 worth of Argos vouchers, told that gift cards are excluded...

Don't know what i was doing earlier but if anyone needs a reservation number for kilkenny or killarney pm me...just running updates on mine now...dont forget to put on the included screensaver the second you take off the plastic to avoid any dust and perfect fit...

You will always get fanboyism on any forum ,Alone my name gives away something I was long known for but that changed and now I use nearly every device on the market, currently using a Z3 plus myself.... and I was never a Sony fan the Z3 is nice though but dont believe the waterproofing stories..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bidiots

my problem with the z3 is the glass front and back. its a beautiful device but slippy as hell.
I had the plus but got rid because it really needs a case.
I abhor this phenomenon of buying beautiful pieces of Technology and protectively wrapping them in cases and tempered screen protectors. it seems pointless to me, buying them then hiding them....
Any phone I buy now is cheap and can buy new cases if I scratch or break them, thus my current Lumina :0)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,467 ✭✭✭jimmynokia

There is nice clear gel cases on Amazon which I got and tempered glass screen protection, both work well together.
My case for mine is a smoked case looks good doesn't hide phone so much.

Jimmy whats the story with the z3+ and crashing because of the processor...was going to get it but all the reviews said this was a serious problem..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,467 ✭✭✭jimmynokia

The 810 processor, but I've no issues so far, there is a patch on the way. I'm not one to record videos much but tried it for 5 mins and just got slightly warm as expected, other than that it's been good.

The Z range is class, miss my one, Much better than my current moto G 2nd gen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,375 ✭✭✭Redsoxfan

Only issue I have had with my Z3 is that it bends... But that's an issue with any larger smartphone IMHO. Battery life is great. I find the Ringke Fusion case fine.

The Z3 is 4G, the Argos spec doesn't mention 4G for the LG?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,730 ✭✭✭Balmed Out

Mine got a cracked screen while playing Sudoku, apparently issue was raised on some UK consumer show too.

I would check its not an SEA version

    Network and connectivity:
    Wi-Fi and 3G network capability.
    Micro SIM card.
    Wi-Fi connectivity.
    Bluetooth.

Does anyone know if these phones are unlocked, or do they lock to the first network that is used in them?

They are unlocked and don't lock to first sim.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,308 ✭✭✭kiddums

Thanks. Argos UK lock to the first network used, I was hoping this wouldn't be the same.

Its out of stock now. :( It was "Can be ordered".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,355 ✭✭✭cruhoortwunk

The LG G3 is mostly out of stock too apart from a few scattered around the country

We'll ring around every Tesco in Ireland for a staff member that isnt aware of the new instructions from head office. I have a load of aldi vouchers here, just waiting to be used. And my argos reservation is holding the Z3 til Saturday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,355 ✭✭✭cruhoortwunk

Potentially a good trick on the aldi voucher thread. Use aldi voucher in tesco to get €50 of tesco vouchers. Then come back in and buy €50 argos giftcards with them.
    I'll try this later on

It takes 3 working days for the argos gift cards to become valid one there system.

Call argos customer service and ask them to extend your reservation, or they have done it in store for me before.

Which Aldi voucher do we use?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 340 ✭✭The_Mask

I have been using the Sony Z1 the last 2 years, still a great phone specs wise, my 14mp camera hasn't been out of the press since I got my phone
