Upgraded to Fibre on Vodafone yesterday but no change.

Hi I was currently on Vodafone uncongested broadband and averaging 14Mbps. I got the fibre installed yesterday and the technician said I should get 60/70 Mbps no problem. But since I haven't gotten any higher than 14Mbps since he left. What the problem?? Do I need to wait till it's activated?? Anyone know?

Reboot the router my daughter had the very same problem. It's flying now.

Will do as have wait till I get a loan of laptop as only have tablets and iphone. But can't imagine they be a big different from wired and wireless results?

There can be a significant difference due to interference. In the mean time try changing wifi channel to 1, 6 or 11. Also, did you get an upload speed increase?

There's a massive distance between wired and wireless. Wireless is dependant on the quality of the frequencies in your own home. It's unlicensed frequencies, your neighbours modem or other devices in yours our your neighbours houses can interfere, ip cameras, video senders, baby monitors, walkie talkies all use the same unlicensed frequencies. A cable doesn't suffer from problems like this, it just works, in fact it even has different paths for send and receive so works better and much faster.

14 Mbit is not going to be the limit of the wireless though. There's something else going on.

you can upgrade to a fibre account but but if your house connection isnt connected up to fibre you will stll get the same speed you had

i got a letter from eircom its in your estate , when i rang them well if you upgrade you will only get the same speed as your house isnt set up for fibre

You've probably seen the upload speed has increased if you've just signed up to fibre.
Use that to check instead of download. The download wouldn't change a whole lot if you're not very close to your cabinet or exchange.

It call often be, if there's lots of noise. You cannot test over wireless
