My 2 cents is that if your radio does not support CD changer it won't work.

It does as that's how the connects2 aux box I had worked. It emulated a CD changer. This is the same type of thing but its not coming on/getting recognised.

I know it does emulate a cd changer, and that's why you need to make sure your radio supports cd changer. If it does not, it won't work.
Make sure this device is getting power too, any light somewhere?

I'm saying I know the radio supports it as that's how the aux connection worked when I had it installed.

There is a power light on the Bluetooth box but its not lit implying its not getting power. Just looking at the wiring the connects2 box has a different layout of wires vs this one. Would that make a difference?

If there's anyone who is familiar with installing these/wiring etc in the Dublin area. I'd gladly throw someone a few bob to get working.

Car is an mk5 golf with a rcd300 installed.

Thanks for that but no its just not working. I have those instructions, I don't have a loose yellow or red wire. Only the earth which I have earthed to the rear of the radio.

Use a voltmeter to make sure you have power on your plug, the one that goes into the device. You earth may be bad etc.
So at least if you have power at the plug you know the device is not working.
Check the fuse too if there is one.

I don't have a voltmeter unfortunately. I'll try track someone down in the next few days I guess. Thanks again anyway.
