Long Irons or Hybrids

Which do you prefer to use or do you use both ?

Personally iv always found hybrids easier to hit and I carry a 3h and 5h in the bag . I dropped my 4and 5 irons .

Of late iv been hitting my irons from 6 to LW reasonably well but it's my Hybrids seen to be hit and miss . Yesterday was the worst.
Hope to get around to the grass bay's on the range today with my long irons and see how I hit them .

Was just curious as to what most guys preferred to use .

Hybrids all the way for me, but there is times when I would love to carry a 4 iron too, especially into the wind on a long par 3, hard to keep the hybrid down sometimes.
Never tried replacing the 5 iron with a hybrid but its something I may do in the future.
Replaced my 3 wood with a hybrid a few months ago and its really a solid club, I was never a good 3 wood player anyway and the hybrid gives a bit more confidence.

What degree hybrid did you replace the 3 wood with?

15 degree, wouldn't go as far as a good struck 15 degree wood, but not by much.

I have to agree with this 100%. I took the 3w out of the bag 2 years ago and replaced it with a 17h. Ok I loose at least 15 yards but usually hit it in the button 4/6 at least, whereas, a 3w 1/6 and never when it was really required.

Replaced the 3 iron with a 22h and that's the most perfect club in my bag. The 4iron I'm still very comfortable with though.

When I heard Conor Deegan mention on Newstalk years ago that handicap golfers really should be using hybrids over woods, I took his word for it, he knows he's +4.

Struggled with hybrids till the ping g25. Took out my 3i and 4i for a 23 degree. Haven't had a 3 wood for years so got a 17 degree. Probably improved 25% in terms of less bad hits. Thinking of even getting a 5h now

I'm the opposite, I hit my 5 iron long and accurate but can't hit my 4 hybrid.
