    hi folks

last night my car was stolen in ballymun (shocker!)

it was only an old fiesta that i bought a while ago but never got around to getting driving until recently. the real kicker is i only got my learner permit yesterday and after researching all morning on driving instructors i go to the windows to have a cig and i realize, wheres the bloody car! I walk down to where it was parked and glass smashed on both sides of the front side windows.

the really strange thing is the battery was dead and the car had 2 flat tyres. i have a mechanic friend who was going to repair it for me to get driving.

so straight away im ruling out joy riders as it was not driveable.

    any ideas?

    cheers

Two flat tires wouldn't stop joy riders and a push start would get it started.

They saw an old car with little to no security that wouldn't be an issue to rob. It'll turn up burnt out or in the middle of a field.
Sorry to hear, it's a horrible feeling regardless of the monetary value of the car.

It wouldn't have been lifted by the authorities? The broken glass on both sides suggests the possibility of a truck mounted grab.

    Was it taxed?

Could have been lifted or towed away by thieves.

Is there a chance the authorities towed it for no tax or insurance displayed or something like that? Have you called the Gardaí, if you havn't do it now as if it's been involved in any crimes it will all come back to you and failure to report it stolen won't go well?

If the authorities lifted it with a grab they wouldn't have left broken glass on the street/pavement. It was stolen.

There you go, you have it as a fact now.

and a push start would get it started.

but the battery was dead. tried to start it last week and didnt even get a sound out of the ignition. i spoke to my mechanic friend and he suggested the thieves could of had a booster pack.

the car was taxed but not insured. ive been to the garda station. they said there wouldnt of been broken glass left if it was taken by them.

Sorry to hear that, nothing worse than someone taken your property.

Possibly broken for parts or sold straight for scrap, my guess.
