OK so be interested to know what I am entitled to, end of the day the company credit card will happily pick up the bill for food, accommodation etc so not an issue.

Am on a flight from Memphis to Philly to get a connection to Dublin with American Airlines. Memphis flight is delayed so I can't make my connection. Asked the lady at the desk to explore all options as I could fly from Memphis to Chicago, Charlotte or Washington which all fly direct to Dublin. Nothing doing, best option she says is to fly to Philly and go to the AA customer service desk who will sort me out with a Hotel (I am sceptical) so I will arrive in Philly at 9pm for a 9pm connection, she has booked me onto the same PHL DUB flight the next day, so I lose 24 hours. Will they put me up? should they put me up? will they pay for food? Just be interested to know!

As long as it is not your fault but the airlines fault you missed the connection they "should" look after you.

I had a 24 hour delay in Newark once.

Continental really didn't want to do anything to help ( even left us to find a hotel ourselves after midnight ) but we kept the receipts for everything and the manager of the motel even wrote us a cover letter specifying details of our stay.

Thankfully I was able to hand it all to our company travel secretary to resolve but it still took her weeks to squeeze the money out of the airline.

Whatever you do, don't accept compensation in the form of flight coupons! Cheque for hard dollars only.

    How it ended....

They gave me a voucher for Day's Hotel Chester. I didn't have internet access to check it out, but its not far off a roach motel, should have booked into the airport Marriott on expenses but didn't realise just how **** the hotel would/could be. Live and learn....
