Taking clubs out of the bag

Has anyone here ever taken clubs out of their bag for a few rounds?
I'm thinking of taking my Driver, 5 wood and Hybrid out of the bag and see how I go with just irons and wedges.
My thinking is that I often put myself in trouble off the tee but once the big dog is in there I'm going to use it.
I play out of Corballis so shouldn't have too many issues with distance.

I took my 3 wood out a year ago because I kept trying to use it and justify the lie as being ok, replaced it with a 19° and got better but it was too close to my 22 which i hit much better so I replaced it again with a 3 wood. First round with it lost 3 shots easily trying to use it for stupid lies lol

50° - Rarely use it as its a distance club (115) , 98% of the time its a 60° or 56° or just a PW. Just dont know what to replace

Only really need driver on a couple of holes in Corballis so no harm taking it out.

Decent short term exercise imo, if you want/need to "discover" the trouble trouble they bring. But you're already at that stage by the sounds of it.

Key is not using them while they're in the bag.

This is the problem. I can't leave them in the bag when they're at arms reach.

Left the driver out once. Hit 11 of 14 fairways, shot 79 gross off HCP 10 and won the monthly medal.

It was straight back in the bag the next round. For the life of me I still don't remember why?

I've a pencil bag and throw in a half set for mid-week rounds.

It often leads me to wonder why I bother with the driver and gap wedges (and the odd iron).

Carry a 3w that I haven't hit all year on the course! Should take it out as the temptation to hit is always there

It aint easy, but the taking them out of the bag scenario for you is not going to achieve anything imo.

It would be like throwing an alcoholic in a cell for a month and he fools himself he was great for going off the booze. He'll head to the boozer as soon as he's released.

4 and 5 irons have been in the shed since I got my clubs . Iv a 3 and 5 hybrids that are so much easier to hit so don't bother with long irons
