    irish oaks curragh 5:50

I don't really understand this market at all . I'm not convinced that Curvy should be fav and as good as Words looks she has it to prove yet. Qualify has easily the best bit of form here in winning the Epsom oaks and Paddy Power have gone out on a limb with 14/1 which makes no sense at all and has to be taken . I also get the feeling the Together Forever will improve here over her Epson run and 12/1 seems value. I quite fancy an AOB 123 with Words .

2 points win Qualfiy 14/1 paddy power

1 pint win Together Forever 12/1 various..

Qualify might be NR now due to the ground Aidan.

Makes sense it's a silly price . If so the 12/1 about together forever is great value , and I'll be upping stakes .

Not usually too mad on summer national hunt, but chanced Court Minstrel in the handicap hurdle at Market Rasen tomorrow at 25/1 e/w, think Dell Arca has a nice chance in the race after. Backed it at 10/1 now no bigger than 7/1, not impossible that he's been Pricewised

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,022 ✭✭✭madmoose

Back dell arca myself as he could take this well with only lightly raced over fences and got within near a legth to coneygree last season.

Havent decided. The price looks a bit skinny would have been hoping for double figures.

Was hoping the same, it's stupidly short. But looks a very winnable race.

Looking at it again the 8s may be slight value. Might back it yet. The 3 year olds are most feared.

Curvy is a skimpy enough price in a race with so many fillies with huge potential. Bar Together Forever the rest of them don't have the form in the bank, I do like her but jockey bookings say she's not the one.

What I would say about Curvy is that she'll like the track and although you can punch holes in the Ascot form, she did beat Pleasach convincingly. If Curvy hadn't run Pleasach would have been a 4l winner at Ascot and close to odds on for this if she turned up here off that result.

    2.55 Hammersly Lake 1pt ew
    4.45 Final Frontier 2pt win
    5.15 Mecca's Angel 5pt win

Avoiding the Oaks altogether is probably the best option.

Ground at the Curragh now updated to good from good to yielding. Also took a chance on the well handicapped Wee Jean in the second at Chester 10/1 having dropped into a 0-85

Thought that myself, if you forgive her one bad run ( which was too bad to be true ) then she's a great chance. The price and Jockey bookings aren't screaming winner. Words is the one screaming potential, but Junior hasn't won anything major in the longest while and it's hard to mentally picture him getting back in the groove.

It's a game of darts this race with the English horses in as well. I'll stick with the solid Curvy and hope she drifts a little as gambles develop on some of the others

    Gretchen 12-1 5.50
This ran on from the rear when Curvy won Ribblesdale. I
think if it's closer and tracking leaders it will get closer
    1 pt ew

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,895 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

    Triple Dip 9-2 3.55
Very much a horse on the up. Runs off bottom weight here and at
9-2 a safe ew. It has been in great form this year, always running its race
    2pts EW !

    Grumpy Angle 5-2 5.35

Very weak field here. A great chance for Grumpy to get off the mark on it's
5th run. It went close last time out on it's first run this year, came 2nd.

    5pts win !

    Curragh 3.05

Midnight Crossing ew, best price 22/1

Should run her race FTO, expecting a good performance. Stake accordingly for a maiden.

Serious money for that winner, horse in the same ownership set it up. :pac: I'd say there was some massive bets landed there.

Stupidly, I didn't have a bet today, but I have said it now for awhile that the English trainers have only really cottoned onto the fact that a lot of the group and listed Irish flat races are basically going uncontested. Today, they won the two major races, and I suspect the winner of the Oaks will never win a Group 1 again, reflecting just how weak the race was today. Given that kind of success, I'd say even more English trainers will be fancying their chances next year.
