Advice about wages/insurance for farm workers

I'd really appreciate some advice. I'm thinking of asking a neighbour to do some work on a regular basis on our farm. It would be for things like feeding silage bales in winter and transporting animals occasionally or helping with dosing etc. What would be the going rate and how do I go about insuring them?
I looked into FRS but they require something like a minimum of 4 hours a day and that isn't what we need at the moment.

Well my neighbour lives next door so I'd be hoping he could come over in the morning and come back in the evening to give silage. We don't have many cattle so it would really be 2 hours work a day at the very most unless there were extra things to be doing like dosing or whatever.

I just got the house and farm insured with FBD and Employers Liability was about €135 for the year and covers you up to €13,000,000.

I'm not 100% sure if there's no limit to amount of money or hours worked, it was a standard option and they definatly didn't ask for those details.

I think employers liability only covers casual labour up to 3k

You've a serious deal at 135 for employers liability. I'm paying a lot more

i would have said 10 euro an hour, if you are only getting him for an hour or 2 a day maybe a little more to keep him happy

Yeah €10 per hour would be fine I'd say. He has no travel costs and can pick time to suit himself mostly.

    That's public liability
Employers liability always based on wages

    no it's not,

EL covers more than paid employees,

@ OP discuss your insurance with your insurance company , you won't get accurate advise on the internet
