Honeymoon 2016

    Hi all,

Myself and my fiancée are getting married in September next year and are currently looking at honeymoons. We are at a state of confusion at the moment, we would both like a Carribean cruise but it's a risk going in September as its hurricane season. We were also looking at New York but we would like to relax some where hot also and Cancun is at its wettest in September. A Med cruise is also an option but not sure of weather etc. Budget would be approx €4 - €5K.

Any help, stories, experience, advice etc would GREATLY appreciated.

    Regards,

    Brian

It all depends what you want, where you have been before. Everyone told us we would be knackered after the wedding but we actually arent. We are in malaysia. Got an unprecedented deal at a 5+ star hotel due to it being rainy season ( havent seen any rain in the three days we have been here).
Its up to you really. Decide on budget and kind of trip you want and go from there.

I would definitely recommend a Caribbean cruise, you will love it. We have done them during hurricane season and only ever had a problem on our first trip when we couldn't dock at a specific destination due to the hurricane but we ended up stopping in Puerto Rico instead so it all worked out. From my own experiences it has never hindered us and we have gone in Sept and Oct. My personal preference would be the Eastern Caribbean routes as the islands are a bit nicer (in my opinion). We have also done the Mediterranean but I wouldn't rate them as good, but if you get a great ship it doesn't matter!

We went to Southwest USA on ours (San Fran, Oregon and Las Vegas) and it was fantastic. You can't go wrong with that part of the world imo.

We skipped the long drives and got internal flights instead, which turned out to be a masterstroke in the end.

I would love to go Oregon as I'm a Steve Prefontaine fan but I don't think my other half would go for that. I didn't think picking a honeymoon would be so hard.

We went in the Alaskan cruise last year. Amazing.

Thanks Carleigh. Yeh Carribbean cruise is top of our list but we are fearful of hurricane season and is it a risk for that money. We will have a look at the Eastern Carribbean cruises and see what's available. Thanks a mill

That's mad, we planned our honeymoon around the Prefontaine Classic at the end of May just gone!! We are both big track and field fans which helped.

I must admit we got a few funny looks when we told people where we were going but Oregon (Portland and Eugene) was easily the highlight of the trip.
