Sand Cement Screed Workshop Floor

    Just putting the finishing touches to workshop/garage and floor level needs to be raised by about 75-80mm, would a sand cement screed laid on a DPC barrier be best or sand/10mm/cement? Which would be the stronger of the two options? Originally a wooden floor was planned but this is no longer feasible.

    I have 75mm of pathmix on 50mm 300Kpa XPS in mine - harder wearing and tougher than sand/cement screed. At

    30N10 concrete with either fibre reinforcement of a layer of mesh and power floated on a DPM would be fairly standard. If you can fit in a layer of insulation, do.

    If it's attached to the house and there is access through, you will need to have a step down to garage of at least 100mm
