    Hi,

I recently released a new Irish Rail realtime Android application for train/dart travellers/commuters. I tried to make it as beautiful of an app as possible using Ireland's rail landscapes and intuitive to navigate through without having to access countless screens to get the info that you need. I would love if ye would try it out and let me know what you think

    here's the link

Link doesn't work. What's the name of the app, so I can search for it in the Play Store? There's something called "Train Track" in the Play Store, but it seems to be for Indian railways.

Thanks. I guess it's only available in Ireland (I'm in London at the moment and the app store won't let me download it). Will try in a few days when I'm back in Ireland.

If I add a station to my favourites and then exit the app, the next time I start it, it goes straight back into that station, it's not clear how I can go back to the list of stations to select a different one? If I press the Android 'back' button it exits. It only appears to allow one favourite and the only way to go back to the list of stations is to remove that station from your favourites. The app is completely unusable unless you allow the user to have a short list of favourite stations, otherwise you have to scroll up and down a long list of stations every time.

    Two initial suggestions:

    1. Can you make the 'add to favourites' icon in the upper-right a hollow five-pointed star? I think it's currently a floppy disc? The hollow star is now pretty much the standard way of doing things, for example on the British Open golf website that's the symbol beside each player's name if you want to add them to your list of favourites and on most railway apps it's also used. So when you're viewing a station and it's already in your list of favourites, the star will appear filled in.

You shouldn't need to confirm that you want to add or remove a station, if you make a mistake you can just tap it again, I'd remove the confirmation popup for add and remove.

    2. On the list of trains for Dublin Dart stations, would it be possible to give an option for trains in one direction only? If I call up Dun Laoghaire for example, I might only want to see Dart trains going north because I'm going to Lansdowne Road so (e.g.) I don't want to see southbound trains and I may not want to see mainline trains either.

Thanks for your suggestions! Greatly appreciated.

You should be able to filter the trains you don't need by long pressing a train in the saved trains list. That way you should be able remove the trains you don't need. i.e southbound or northbound.

The floppy disc icon is the new Google Material design save icon. The whole app is based on Lollipop and material design but I appreciate your comments.

You might be right about the alerts to save and delete a station. I will have a look at this.

    Thanks again

    Hi,

I updated the app yesterday with instructions on the about screen to filter trains. Thanks for highlighting this to me
