I'm a handsome male, really!, but have always been pretty weedy and have never made any sports teams.

Too weedy for rugby, and not good enough for gaa, even juniors. And I just don't like soccer.

So I decided I would join a hockey club, there's one just a little bit away from me. Went to join a pre season training and they told me it map a ladies club for ladies only. I explained that I really wanted to play , mentioned the above, and that I would like to play hockey as I think I could make a team with girls. I don't care what the sex is but think it's a standard that if I trained really hard, I could join, and that I was always good at uni hock in school, the only team sport I was ever OK at.

But I was told to bugger off and pretty aggressively so if I'm honest...
I don't know if it's a perceived insult by them that I thought I could make this team as opposed to a man's team, or if it was just plane sexist!
I'd like to think the former, though it felt like the latter.
My preference would be neither, I just want to strap on my shin pads and play ball!

Has anyone else ever experienced something like this or have any advice on what I could do to join?
