Personally I thought the jury would deliberate a lot longer over the insanity plea, fast decision in this case.

Less of the formality. Seen so many of his films he's John to me.

    Deep Throat was a classic.

The trial now enters a sentencing phase where his legal team will attempt to help him dodge deathrow. He's facing the Death Penalty or Life without the possibility of parole. The jurors make the decision.

Hard to know where I stand on the DP when it comes to such cases, I wouldn't fancy having a part in the decision.

    Dp is somewhat unlikely:
While Colorado has executed a total of 101 people in its history (all of them male and for the offense of murder), since the Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1978, the state has only executed one person in 1997 and is considered a "de facto" non-capital punishment state.

I will make that easy for you. Death row

A guy his age becoming a lifer, I would rather him die.

When ever I hear the sentence, 21 years old and killing spree then caught by police I think what a gob****e, there's his life down the ****ter. You might aswell be dead, in fact I would suspect it's there intention to just be shot anyway.

I suppose these are the conversations you have in a country with a real justice system unlike Ireland, where we talk about rapists getting there sentences reduced. Could you imagine that in America? It's one thing they have right over there is jail terms for crimes.

John Holmes had no such qualms with DP himself......The whole "Any hole is a goal" defense passed by the supreme porno council/court of 1982.

Statistics don't seem to back up that.

It doesn't seem to deter future crimes or stop criminals from reoffending.

How, do you believe, they got it right?

Can you lower the tone from mass murder?

A reoffending rapist will reoffend more if they are out on the streets, so the longer the sentence , the less scope for people to be raped.

Well I will ask you the same question, how do you think Ireland have it right?

Why do we have criminals walking around with 150/160 convictions left to re-offend?

Why am I watching rapists on TV complaining they have no where to live after release from prison?

I'm not saying Ireland has it right,I never did, you said America has, but we are certainly better than the US

He never said Ireland have it right. You said the U.S. have jail terms right which is blatantly untrue. They have the highest prison population and yet still higher crime rates. Could it be that the way to reduce crime is to prevent it ever happening and not forcing the criminals to live in in humane conditions? Nah lets just lock them up for a while and forget about them until the next inevitable rapist comes about.

.....which, considering he's a header, is bit odd. Then again, jaysus know what sort of sanity test they're using.

I thought the testimony from the psychologist that basically he was as nutty as a snickers but never enough to actually forcibly commit him prior to the attack would have given them something to chew on. Nope, wham.

    Interesting analysis here.

The state killing this young man will no doubt bring great comfort and solace to the families of those he killed.

He's not a lunatic. He's just another cvnt who wants notoriety and doesn't know any other way to achieve it.
Even him dressing up like a comic book villain and popping his eyes out to seem crazy is planned out.
To call him the Batman Killer is giving him exactly what he wants.

'Guilty but insane' is one of the funniest jokes I know. Much better than that ****ty, 'guilty because your insane' batman thing.

America has the largest number of people in prison in the western world and some of the highest crime rates in the western world, despite having one of the harshest prison systems of the western world.

Crime and justice is in fact one of the things that America is the worst at. It's held up as a poster boy of how not to run a justice system.
