    Hey,
I bought my first car today and will confirm my insurance policy tomorrow. The insurance company advised me they will put me on cover straight away and will send me a temp insurance cert/disc until I return the signed policy doc.

I want to collect the car on Saturday from the garage,am I insured without displaying the insurance disc?will the garage have any issue with me leaving without the insurance cert? Total noob here.

Yep, you are covered whilst you wait for the insurance Cert & disc to arrive in the post.

Carry a note of your policy number etc in case Gardai ask you for it but shouldn't be any issue.

If your insurer advised you that you are insured, then you surely are.
Fact that you don't display insurance disc is irrelevant.
You don't need to display it for first 10 days from moment of commencement of the policy.
will the garage have any issue with me leaving without the insurance cert?
    No, none of their business.
