Also have a looksie in the Northern fora right here :)

~ The Black Cab tour in Belfast I feel is a must for the History you'll be told about.
~ Derry is a Beautiful City and worth a visit especially so along the Foyle. The murals I still look back on from here in my pictures.
~ Armagh was like Home from Home for me. Found it so Peaceful & Friendly. Try find a local guide to take you to the grounds of St. Patricks Cathedral - a few Graves there are steeped in History
~ Enniskillen again along a river, Lough Erne.
~ Antrim, stayed in Portrush myself stunning by the coastline ; Carrick-a-Rede Bridge not far from Giants Causeway another must ; alongwith the Old Bushmills Distillery for the parents ;)
~ Omagh was another location I had to visit.

Actually got the train down to Derry along the coast and the views were something special.

The places and routes that I've visited. Cannot give advice on travelling there with kiddies though. Northern Ireland is Amazing! Went backpacking in my teens and never encountered an issue.

You'll never have enough time. You will want to return again.
Read up online or elsewhere on what aspects of Irish history you want to see first-hand.
Northern Ireland is Amazing for its History & Scenery,

The Giants Causeway won't hold much appeal for a 6 and 1 year old and the parents will have to watch the little ones very carefully, I wouldn't bother. Are you sure that driving to NI from Wexford with children aged 6 and 1 is a good idea?

Murals of the troubles will come in two flavours - but you've probably figured that one out already!

Kerry4sam thank you some good advise there i will take it on board. Coylemj yes you maybe right about the causeway for the kids but would like to at least drive in that direction to witness some of the views, Are you in someway suggesting it is not safe to travel to the north from wexford with kids? And yes in regards the murals i understand they come in two flavours.

No, just that the kids will be bored stiff on such a long journey. I've driven from Dublin to Portrush via Balymena and the Antrim coast. The views along the Antrim coast are stunning - for the passengers but not the driver. If it's clear day then by all means point out the Mull of Kintyre to your six year old but I'm figuring he/she won't be that impressed. The only places you mentioned were the Titanic centre and the Giants Causeway, neither of which I would regard as holding any appeal to young children.

The Giants Causeway has a good walk from the visitors centre down to the causeway. Just make sure to have buggys etc with you. The rope bridge is an even longer walk from the car park. The bushmills tour has over 100 steps.

100 steps is nothing worth talking about.

A wee tot of Bushmills in his bottle and he'll bound up them 100 steps!
