    Can I ask Please...

    I contacted Revenue in writing today but received an automatic-reply stating it could be upto 30-days before a reply from them so...
    Received a cheque last month from them in relation to my over-paying tax in previous years; cheque lodged/used - finished!

    Contacted them recently in relation to
    ~ the spelling of my name being wrong on the paye-online site ;
    ~ questioning the current tax charges in my curent employment (see here) with last & this week being charged almost 120Euro in taxes.
    Now they corrected my name ; sent me a p21; sent me updated credits.

    I've asked for detailed breakdowns of these 2cheques as this one is in the hundreds and I don't think it's accurate. Won't be cashing it or even lodging it. Just going to keep it safe until they come back to me explaining it.

    Now,
    ~ Could it be in relation to them sorting out my recent extortionate tax charges in my current employment, eventhough the accompanying letter stated PAYE 2014 re-imbursement.
    ~ Possible they never done sufficient checks in their office before authorising this cheque and someone will realise soon their accounts ain't balancing.

    Just don't expect Revenue could be be making mistakes like this.

    Has this happened anyone else?
    Thanks,
    kerry4sam

    Revenue won't refund you overpaid tax for the current year. This is up to your employer. Furthermore, it is your employer who is calculating your tax on a weekly / monthly basis, so Revenue won't be much help in telling you how the overcalculation of tax is occurring in the current year.

    The Cheque for 2014 should soon be accompanyied by a P21 Balancing Statement. Check this against the previous P21 for 2014, and you should see if there are differences in the figures, which would help explain the additional refund issued.
