    Hi.

Does anyone know of good trustworthy alternatives to Amazon?

    Thanks.

If it's books you're after, kennys.ie are good and have reasonable prices.

    Hi Jack.

I've never bought a book online but thanks for the tip - others may use it.

Anyone used Rakuten? It was formerly Play.com.

Spartoo.eu is a website I found recently, it's French and seems very popular, made a purchase last week, due to receive it on Monday. Free delivery on full price items, €5 delivery on sale items. Free returns. Beats Amazon anyday, the cost of Sterling has jumped and Amazons postage has sky rocketed in recent months.

    Hi Techmaster.

You had a bad experience with them? What happened?

    Hi Tom.

Poor customer service, poor delivery times. Half the sellers don't bother replying to messages too.

Thanks for the heads up. I may give them a miss now.

Play.com used to be an actual store who you ordered from directly whereas Rakuten only seem to host third party sellers and don't sell anything themselves so it can be hit and miss.

    Hi Jack.

I see. I did buy some things from Play.com a good while back and found them to be great.

I will avoid Rakuten me thinks. :)

Any great place(s) to buy electronic stuff? Preferably free/cheap delivery to ROI?

There are a few, but their prices are generally waaaay higher than anything in the UK or Europe. The few Irish sites I used to use were:

Komplett.ie Faster than some of the others, but expect some items to come with Europlugs or Dutch manuals.
    Dabs.ie Not great.
Elara.ie Rip off merchants, prices often 40-100% more than even UK retailers and thats not even including postage.
Memoryc.ie often cheaper than even Amazon for RAM.

These are the only ones I've used/know of. In all cases, their returns or replacement policies are no-where near as easy as Amazon. If something breaks, expect to wait 1-2 weeks before getting a refund or a replacement (Amazon just issues either on the same day or upon return. Other retailers seem to test your return before doing a replacement/refund).
