Sardinia Italy - around Island

    Hi

    we travel to Sardinia (Alghero) on Sept 6th - hope to stay in alghero for 4 days - then travel to Cagliari on the south of the island & be there for Sept 11th & fly to Rome, stay in Rome until Sept 15th and fly back to Dublin.

    Have anybody done a similar trip to this before ?
    How long take to travel down to Cagliari, we would hope to go north and travel down along the east coast.,
    Do the above dates seem okay?
    Is (Ciampino) airport in Rome close to the city ?

    Or are we doing too much and just fly to Alghero & back - forgetting about Rome.
