    Hi,

Who would you go to first if you had ankle pain: podiatrist, Physio or straight to a foot and ankle doctor or surgeon? I'm not too familiar with the health system here in Ireland (lived in France/US most of my life).

I have chronic pain/weakness below and around the outer ankle on my right foot (along the peroneal tendon) - this is triggered especially when I do speed sessions or races on the track.
I've tried icing / massage / taping with some limited success. Time for something more serious ...

Ive had this before and ion other places, not even pain killers worked. I did a few yoga stretches and movements and pain was gone after a week.

Start bending feet forward and backwards (30 times)
    rotate ankles rigth (30 times)
    rotate ankles left (30 times)
cross ankles over your other knee, and grab your foot and do ankle rotations
    do the opposite side

repeat for at least a week

Let me know how this goes. Ive put it down to poor circulation (blood pooling at joints)

Cheers for the responses lads - I'll try your suggestions Galway K9 and I'll also get it checked by a Physio.

I reckon I do have poor circulation (feet often quite cold to the touch), but I suspect there could be something out of whack also (there's some "clicking" sensation happening around the ankle on occasion).
