httpd directory Alias

    Hi,
I've a linux minimus subscriptions that I'm ftping data from a personal weather station to. It looks like there's an alias which is redirecting my /icon directory to /var/www/icons
[Thu Jul 16 10:19:38 2015] [error] [client 86.40.30.63] File does not exist: /var/www/icons/raindrop.png

There's no problem on my local copy and access is no problem if I rename the directory to e.g. icons.bak, but that fix would involve changing the code of the program I'm using everytime I update.
    "GET /icons.bak/raindrop.png HTTP/1.1" 304 - "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/40.0" www.weather.whitehillenv.com

can I edit the httpd.conf file, or is there a setting in the control panel I'm missing
