Drainage? It's impossible to kill them you can only control them with spraying every year.

They grow in wet , acidic or infertile land.

Or all of the above. Fix the problem and theyll leave by themselves.

Spray them with mcpa, wait a while and then top them or mow them and gather them up. There are some lads using mulchers too which leave a nice job but I'd definitely spray them first, 10 litres only costs around €50 which will spray a lot of rushes.

Topped mine in May left for 4 weeks and then sprayed MCPA at end of June. 3 weeks ago.

Same field today. Grass taking over. Butt of rushes clearly dead. Never sprayed before.

I found where field was level and I mowed with kunn to the lowest setting, that the response was better. Similar to mulching. Where bog \field was rough I had to mow 6 inches higher. Response not as quick but they still dying. So cut as low as you can then wait 4 weeks and then spray. I'll prob top again 4 weeks post spray also Keep cattle off 2 weeks post spray.

I agree only permanent solution is drainage lime etc. They are there for a reason. Spraying not permanent solution.

Let the cattle eat the grass in the feild and then lick the rushes with round up. Not a bad job and can be then topped in 3-4 weeks
