So I've been giving a choice of the above, both new.
Just looking for opinions on what one to choose.

The insignia is a bit long in the tooth now, the avensis is out since 09 but have just had a refresh and new BMW Diesel engine.
Hard to get excited about either tbh when you have newer models like the new Passat, new superb, mondeo etc

I might have a option to hang on a couple of weeks for a passat.
But if not im swaying towards the insigina, purely on looks

I dunno, the facelift insignia is a bit of a dogs dinner at the back. I def think I'd hold out for a Passat. The one thing the insignia has in its favour is the basic diesel engine is quite good compared to the rivals 1.6 engines. if that's what you're getting.
    Is it a company car?

Insignia is supposed to be getting a new 1.6 litre 136bhp diesel engine from the Astra, it's replacing the old 2.0 litre 140bhp engine. Insignia is very well equipped these days even in base spec as said it's been around for ages now and feels a bit dated.

    What about a Mazda 6?

Mazda 6 new one for is one of most beautiful cars except cars like Ferrari etc.But reliabilty was a problem with previous mazda 6 diesels especially, shound be worse than Opel.If you are not going to buy Avensis, wait for Passat.Opel is probably next company to closed if any bad time will come as they getting lower everywhere and have financial problems.

For Model Year 16 the 2.0CDTi 140ps engine is replaced by the 1.6CDTi 136ps "Whisper" Diesel in the Insignia. I was a little worried it wouldn't be enough for the car, but Opel left us with a 1.6 Zafira this week and I've just been for a spin - it's more than enough for the Zafira so shouldn't have any issues in the Insignia - better performance than the older 2.0 IMHO. Didn't get it up to Motorway speed, but it's pretty nippy in 1st/2nd/3rd. Can still get a little caught out in the wrong gear at low speed which happens with all the smaller diesels but not so much with the 2.0's, but we're all fairly impressed with that engine.

OnStar is coming standard on SE/SRi/Elite trim for MY16, and optional on S/SC. SC and above still get the big touch screen Nav unit as standard, but no longer get the (useless) touch pad controller.

OnStar looks pretty cool - http://www.opel.ie/experience-opel/opel-about/opel-news/2015/July/opel-news-opel-launches-the-next-level-of-vehicle-connectivity-with-OnStar.html

"New" Avensis is a big improvement over the old model, especially inside. Still not as nice or fancy as the Insignia in there, but a huge improvement over the old model. 1.6 in the Avensis isn't terrible, but it's not great either - bit lacking in power, but on par with the old 1.6Tdi Passat/Octavia.

Bang for your buck, the Insignia is the one to go for - much better standard equipment for the BIK value than anything else in that class.

Insignia all day long, has that extra class which the avensis is lacking on. Looks quite well when specced up. The facelift however is a bit of a let down over the pre facelift. A few bits look out of place.

Have a look at the Ford Mondeo but if you are not a fan of Fords then the Mazda 6 is a very good car indeed and then Insignia next. Skoda Superb also worth a look.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.
