When to Paint?

The plastering is being completed in my new build this week.

After this I was planning on getting the second fix electrical and plumbing sorted in order to get the heating on before any second fix timber work is completed.

My question as such is when would painting take place? Would it be a good idea to get the whole house sprayed white before any 2nd fix carpentry is done?

    Or what is "normal" protocol?

    Thanks!

Rule of thumb is allow 1mm per day drying. so if wet platers on walls is 21mm thick - then wait at least 3 weeks.

What do you think about order of works. Is it a good idea to spray all walls and ceilings before any doors or timber goes in?

Not really. That is still fairly heavy building works that could ruin decorations.
Door leafs and frames and skirting s etc when being moved around during install/ fix will knock chips and dents from the plaster which you need to fill as part of decorations. Watch how dusty a room comes when a chippy uses an electric plane or sander.....

Honestly I would do a decoration - light job first. Magnolia everywhere. Give it a years for all timbers to shrink move and crack.
The do the real decoration projects.

    Thanks! That makes sense!

Its no harm to spray a 1st coat of white paint to cover plaster on walls & ceilings before light switches etc etc go on & before you get carpenters in... Just a 1st coat you will likely need 2 or more coats but getting the 1st one done can save cutting in etc etc
