I've gone back playing football after a 7 year break. Training with my local club . I've spent the last few years bodybuilding/powerlifting and quite well built. 90 plus kg. I'm enjoying being back at the football , but the pains I am getting in my ankles and knees is unreal. Any tips from ye guys in the know on how to stop/or reduce this pain ??. I'm simply putting it down to my ankles an knees not being used to carry my weight around the place for an extended time .

I'd be getting that checked out by a professional tbh. Could be something as simple as your footwear, but to be honest if it's an 'unreal pain' and in both ankles and knees, I'd be looking as going to a physio or gp with experience in sports medicine.
Get to the root of the pain and get it sorted so you can carry on playing pain-free.

Could be flat feet. Insoles can help. Physio is the way to go.

My concern is that 7 year ago when I did play football I got to a fairly decent standard and never suffered pains or injuries like this ?

I'd hazard a guess that for the 7 years before that you weren't doing what you have been doing for the past 7 years? Perhaps, you might have been playing football for those 7 years?

Your body will have de-conditioned itself by not playing for 7 years. All the lateral movements that you make in football aren't generally replicated in real life. Your ankles and knees would have been well able to handle all of the strains and stress that you put on them 7 years ago because you had built up their strength over time.

You'll need to ease yourself back into football.

All that said, if you're injured go see a physio and when you're not injured again ease yourself back into football.
