Can you get a live feed on your smartphone with this thing?

Was looking at these but wondered how they compared with the Xiaomi one - especially as there doesn't seem to be a sniff of a review or sample anywhere I checked online.

    It says this:
    P2P Services, Secure and Convenient

Deploying P2P technology, it can establish direct connection between smartphones and the camera.

    Very Easy to Install.
    1. Just Download the Mobile App - Search CleverDog. Apple Store or Google Play.
    2. Ensure the camera is connected to a USB port or a USB Wall Plug.
    3. The App will instruct you to pair the camera - Press the button at the front of the camera and hold for a few seconds.
    4. Pair will take under a minute.
    Full instructions included.

It says it can connect to your smartphone, but it doesn't say if you can if it's on a different network.

Also, the second part about pairing sounds very much like Bluetooth pairing.

    Looks like it
Judging by that video you connect to the camera via the app regardless of where you are. (The guy is in his office or somewhere and looking at his wife and kid...or at least I 'think' it's his wife and kid  )
It also seemed like you could choose a camera to view, so if you had a few (kids room, perimeter, etc.) you could choose between the ones to view.
3 for €80 is pretty good imo.

Its presumably like any other IP-CCTV solution, you can open a webserver on on port 80 or mobile access on an unreserved port.

You need dynamic DNS or a static IP from your ISP for this to work.

OK I know you need to pay for a static IP but Dynamic DNS? Is that to reach the CleverDog server? If so would that not be inbuilt into the device or just a simple IP address?

Surely these devices are consumer-ready with little or no knowledge of DDNS or Static IPs needed?

Can you explain what you mean?

Lots of things are moving away from static IP addresses and dynamic DNS. Any good modern device will post to an server which then routes it

Within your house yeah, itll just be an IP you can access, but if you want to do it from work, then youve to dial to home, but the address of home changes. With ADSL probably daily, with VDSL every few weeks, with UPC every few months.

Pay 10 dollars a year for NO-IP so Pique.no-ip.org always points to your home IP. Jobs oxo.

This is the difference between Clever Dog and say Dropcam. Dropcam host the servers to always give you access by acting as an intermediary, and storing footage, but rip you off big time. This is standalone, you dont give a third party access.

I am looking for something exactly like this but with cameras that can be placed outside. Anyone any suggestions?

Which is right, you or ED E??

Rather important if yer considering it for security reasons for example.

    Both exist.

If you dont get the concepts outlined above, buy a dropcam not a cheap IP cam, itll cause you a lot less headaces.

I thought it is some kind of doggy cam that you attach to dog's collar ʕᵒᴥᵒʔ

Motorola do them but your looking at €200, the external are much more expensive.
