    Howdy,

Anybody got one of these? Impending fatherhood means i need new wheels, at the moment i have a 3 door 1.6 TDI A3 2010.

I was looking at buying a regular 5 door like a Volvo D20 or a golf etc but my mate got an SUV and i must say it is pretty "cool".

I will be mostly based in Dublin, with the weekend trip out West or up and around the Dublin mountains.

Qashqai is getting some good reviews, any boardsie opinions appreciated. In a few months i will have a baby, dog and of course the ball and chain. Qashqai - a good choice?

Bla Qashqui,s are everywhere why not get a Renault Kadjar instead. Much nicer looking and it is basically the same car underneath and uses the same engines as the Qashqui. It costs a bit less to buy too. No harm in looking at one anyway and maybe test driving it. Then you can decide which one you like most and want to buy.

Qashqai has phenomenal resale value though. Or at least it has so far.

As far as I can tell, the Renault is only a few hundred € less than the Qashqai.

Renault has a pretty bad history of SUVs, the koleos was a flop, as was the rx4. The captur is selling, but only because its distinctive and something different.

Qashqai is around since 2007 so the very strong resale values are unlikely to change at this stage.

I reckon you would want your head checked buying the Renault equivalent as it will be worth precisely eff-all come trade in time compared to the gold-plated residuals the Qashqai has...

The Scenic RX4 was ahead of its time. It was basically a Scenic with 4wheel drive I liked it do. The Koleos was just lazy the but a Renault badge on a Samsung car. It was quite good of road do and the interior was nice classy even. The Kadjar do is Renaults own design and looks great. Shares parts with the Qashqui but its design inside and out is different. I think people will get bored of the Qashqui eventually.

    I wouldn't bet €25,000 on that though.

The only way people will get bored of the Qashqai is if something better comes along. The RAV4 was the darling of this sector for about 6 years till the Qashqai came along. The Nissan is far more of an every(wo?)man's car, wider engine range, plentiful second hand, chape tax etc.

This Cat Jar isn't gonna be the car that topples the Qashqai....
