    Hi guys

Apologies in advance if I'm in the wrong section.

I was looking for an answer to the following question:

I'm currently unemployed, have 2 children at uni, am married with a mortgage.

I could be going back into the workforce shortly but I don't want my net take home pay to exceed €36,000.

So my question is what gross salary would I need to earn to achieve the above outcome.

    Many thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to go onto the Deloitte tax calculator, put in your personal details, and then mess around with gross figures until you get a net of 36k

I'd imagine somewhere between 45-48k would give that net depending on whether or not your spouse is employed.

Why do you want to limit your net pay to 36k?

Taxcalc.ie have a good online calculator

Here is a calculation of a married person aged 30-39 with 1 income. For a net income of 36k you wouldn't want to exceed 44k gross. Play around with the figures for a more accurate number.

What is your work history? Have you commanded that kind of salary before? What is the value of the grant etc, for the two kids at uni. Could either of the kids commute from home on a Daily basis to Uni?

    More likely the student grant.
