Hi. Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'll go ahead anyway. Is there much difference between putting tap water or distilled/de-ionised water into a forklift battery? I understand contaminants can do harm to the battery but is tap water full of harmful contaminants? Will the tapwater do any noticeable…

Hi. Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'll go ahead anyway.

Is there much difference between putting tap water or distilled/de-ionised water into a forklift battery?

I understand contaminants can do harm to the battery but is tap water full of harmful contaminants?

Will the tapwater do any noticeable damage over a five to ten year period compared to the distilled/de-ionised water?

Any info gratefully received.

Battery manufacturers state distilled water must be used to top up batteries. However, most tap water in Australia can be used without noticeable damage occurring to the battery.

That's Oz now.
Tbh, just use distilled to ensure best results. You won't need much and it's pretty cheap in Halfords.
