    Hi,

I'm looking for a home cinema system. I don't mind buying seperates or all combined. I've a budget of about £500 for blu ray, amp and speakers. I'd like book shelf speakers as the room I'm putting it in has bookshelves along the back wall. I've looked a lot on the web and am just more confused. Ideally I'd like bluetooth and to get BBC I-Player and internet radio.

    Thanks,

    eBoarde

    Hi Eboards.

As you are in the South of Ireland we will not be able to pick this up. Even with a smart Bluray player it will not pick it up as it is a UK broadcast.

In terms of bluetooth and internet radio with out going up around the £400+ mark for the receiver. You could use your phone or tablet for internet radio and blutooth it to the amp.

Here goes with a few prices.

    A/V Receivers:

Starting with the Onkyo TXSR333 (bluetooth/no internet features) - priced at 249.99 Euro
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201029-txsr333.aspx?swapstore=1

he NEW Denon AVRX520 (bluetooth/no internet features) coming in at 279.99 Euro
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201463-avrx520bt.aspx#tabSpecifications-tab?swapstore=1

Yamaha RXV379 priced at 399.99 Euro - (bluetooth/no internet features)
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201463-avrx520bt.aspx#tabSpecifications-tab?swapstore=1

    Speakers:

Most 5.1 packs are satellite speakers rather than book shelf. Take the Wharfedale DX1 5.1 pack for example coming in at 369.99 Euro
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-11539-dx1-hcp.aspx

You could also look at the Tannoy SFX 5.1 pack priced at 249.99 Euro
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-100504-sfx51.aspx

Or Tannoy TFX 5.1 priced at 268.99 Euro
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-12034-tfx-51.aspx

Next would be the JBL Cinema 510 coming in at 289.99 Euro
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200854-cinema-510.aspx

For a pair of bookshelf speakers you would be starting at the Mordaunt Short M10's priced at 69.99 Euro
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200629-m10.aspx

You could add these in as fronts and remove the two satellites.

    Blu ray Player:

Starting with the the Toshiba BDX2550 priced at 79.99 Euro
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201331-bdx2550.aspx

Sony offer the BDPS1500 priced at 94.99 Euro
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201204-bdps1500.aspx

There is also the Samsung BDJ5500 coming in at 119.99 Euro
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201239-bdj5500.aspx

Let me know if any of the above catches your eye.

Any questions please let me know.

    Hi,

Thanks for your response. I have a 4k TV so would like 4k pass through on the a/v receiver so I have the opiont of upgrading the blu ray in the future.

I notice you stock the Pioneer VSX329 which has 4k passthrough and vTuner internet radio. You didn't recommend this, is the sound quality inferior to those you did?

I could pair this with Pioneer S-HS100 speakers but would it be better to spend a bit more and get better ones?

As for the Blu Ray I would like the BBC IPlayer (irrespective of the geolock). Am I better to try to stick to the same brand or does it matter.

    Thanks,

    Eborade

    Hi Eborade,

In my opinion the three above are better than the Pioneer, although the Pioneer is still a good little unit.
The Denon AVRX520 and the RXV379 have 4K passthrough also.

The Three blurau players listed above will also have the BBC iPlayer app. (The Samsung BBC iplayer goes live next week on the new range of products).

The S-HS100 speakers are inferior to the packs listed above. The ShS100 pack also does not come with a subwoofer. It is very hard to compare these to any of the above as there is a night and day of a difference between them. The further up the ladder you go the better the quality gets.

It really doesn't matter that much about sticking with the same brand. Its really up to yourself on this one. Sometimes something may suit better but it may not be by the same company that product it. One advantage however can be that the one remote may control both amp and bluray player. Although usually not all of the features can be accessed.

I hope this helps a little bit.

Any questions drop me a post.

    Kenny,

Thanks for the quick response, What's the best price you can do for me if I buy the Denon AVR X520, the Tannoy TFX5.1 and the Samsung BDJ5500. I don't mind open box models etc.

Given that the Denon is 5.2 should I invest in a second sub woofer?

My TV is Samsung, will all Samsung smart TVs have BBC iPlayer soon, if so I could go with a more basic Bluray player such as the BD-F5100 (I don't know if you stock this)?

    Thanks

    Hi Eboarde.

If it is this yeas Samsung screen then the update for the BBC iplayer goes live next week at some point. However as you are based in the south it may not update with the iplayer. I will see if i can find this out off of our Samsung rep.

You could use the smart features on your screen and not on the player but unfortunately the BDF5100 is not one that we stock. The BDJ5500 is the most basic of the Samsung range that we stock.

Best price would be the ones listed above unfortunately.
    AVRX520
    TFX5.1
    BDJ5500
Total = 668.97 Euro (Inc Delivery)

You would also require a sublink to connect the sub to the amp as the Tannoy pack does not supply one. It does come with 25m of speaker cable.
You may also require some HDMI cables if you already do not have them. I can work a deal on any cables you require.

We also offer our price beat:
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/t-pricebeat.aspx

Let me know what you think.

    HI eboarde,

I've processed your order today, and hopefully will ship tomorrow. Deliveries to within Dublin coming from our UK warehouse are generally next day but I can't guarantee it unfortunately, so I'd say if not Friday it will be Tuesday as there is a bank holiday on Monday
I'll do what I can and keep you posted

    Cheers
    Brian
